So this story happened in the Edo Period until the last arc. i think the last arc is set on the 1920's. it tells about a (HOT) medicine seller hunting for Mononoke (some kind of spirit. go google it) but, to kill a Mononoke, you must know it's form,truth and regret (Katachi,Makoto,Kotowari). by the second arc, i've already fallen for that smexy med seller.
It really is a good anime and it has that psychedelic feeling to it. i don't really recommend you to watch it at night while listening to "Hold,Release,Rakshasa and Carcasses - Hatsune Miku" i did and....it did not turn good trust me. I really loved the anime. i was just dissapointed to learn that it is only 12 episodes long. :( I MISS YOU SMEXY MEDICINE SELLER.

My favorite arc was the Noppera-Bo and the Bakeneko arc. it was really sad when Ochou, in the end, killed her own soul :( and for the Bakeneko arc, i felt sad for Ichikawa-san. and i think the milk boy didn't do anything wrong :( but i really don't quite understand about the girl who wanted to be famous (who exactly looks like the girl from the Umibozu arc.) and the widow who slept with his husband's corpse? or slept with some other men when his husband died? meh dunno. but i guess the creepiest one is the Zashiki-Warashi ans Bakeneko arc. well, here's some pictures!
